Ports all over the world have different restrictions regarding arrival draft constraints and vessel line-up regulations. Cargill Ocean Transportation wanted to be able to maximize cargo intakes for its customers, based upon arrival draft constraints, requiring extensive knowledge of vessels and port restrictions.
We worked closely with two shipping agents in South Korea to develop a system to accurately forecast arrivals, vessel line-ups and drafts, therefore managing to maximize the payload and optimize the draft available. As the system proved its reliability and efficiency, it has been extended to other geographic areas.
By careful monitoring of fleet schedules, draft conditions and port restrictions, Cargill Ocean Transportation is able to manage efficient fleet scheduling, allowing operators to load their vessels an average of 20 cubic meters more resulting in increased cargo liftings of some 1,300 metric tonnes per voyage.
